X•TRA is a series of photos inspired by my childhood. We often find ourselves behind a laptop or a screen of some kind as this is the norm of adulthood. It is in direct juxtaposition of the body movements and routines I had as a child growing up in Brooklyn swinging on monkey bars and in Nigeria playing shotput, javelin and jumping hurdles. I notice as I get older I get further and further away from impulsive, weird, extreme locomotions that used to empower my mental and physical confidence.
I’d like people to feel either a mental and physical curiosity when viewing these images that may encourage them to tap into a side of themselves that’s not too serious/childlike and then get comfortable being uncomfortable.
